This information is provided to you to help you get to know something about me in order to help you make an intelligent and informed decision about working with me as your counselor.
MY COUNSELING STATUS AND EDUCATION:
I am a LICENSED counselor, WA LH # 00011112. I have a BA degree in Biblical Literature, an MA degree in Leadership Studies and an MA degree in Counseling Psychology. I am a Washington State designated mental health professional and child specialist. I am certified by Washington State as a domestic violence treatment provider. I am certified with the National Board for Certified Counselors.
MY COUNSELING PHILOSOPHY:
In counseling I use a variety of techniques. I try to help people understand themselves; their thought progressions, their belief systems and their resulting behavior. I try to help people understand how this process influences their emotional and mental health and their relationships. I try to help people learn to make decisions and chose behaviors that result in positive rather than negative consequences. This approach is called cognitive-behavioral, insight oriented counseling and reality therapy. I am often aggressive in helping people confront thinking patterns which contribute to the issues that have led them to seek counseling.
I am a Christian and I believe that our relationship with God has an influence on our emotional and mental health. If you would like to, I am willing to work with you to understand how a relationship with God can influence other areas of your life.
Sessions will last 45-50 minutes. Your appointment times be reserved for you alone. I ask that if you need to cancel an appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance so I can make that time available to someone else.
